About Me
Helping Expats Feel at Home

Welcome to At Home Beyond Borders
I moved to China many years ago - before smartphones, before translation apps, before anything felt easy. I didn’t speak the language. I didn’t really know what to expect. Just curiosity, determination… and the willingness to figure things out as I went. Life abroad felt raw back then. Unfiltered. Every day pushed me out of my comfort zone - and slowly shaped the way I see the world today. Over the years, I’ve lived abroad several times, returning to China in different phases of my life. And somewhere along the way, something shifted. What once felt foreign… started to feel like home. Today, China is where our life happens. My husband works for a German automotive company, and our son is growing up between cultures - bilingual, curious, and completely at ease in a world that once overwhelmed me. But living abroad isn’t just about adapting to a new country. It’s about identity. It’s about belonging. It’s about the quiet moments of homesickness no one prepares you for. And at some point, I wanted to understand this on a deeper level - not just from my own experience, but in a way that could truly help others. That’s why I chose to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology. Not as a career move - but because I wanted to support people going through exactly what I had experienced myself. Today, I support expats, partners, and globally mobile families in navigating life abroad - not just practically, but emotionally. Because building a life in another country isn’t just about “making it work.” It’s about feeling at home in it. At Home Beyond Borders is for anyone who is building a life across cultures - and trying to find their place in between.
